It’s that time of year again, when all the kids are going back to school! Many kids are excited and happy to see their friends, however, some kids are not looking forward to the all the work and frustration and just wish it could stay summer all year long. Often times, the kids who are unmotivated about going back to school most likely find the tasks and assignments to be very difficult and feel defeated before they even begin class.
Parents are ready for their kids to go back to school with the expectation and hope that their child will be successful, but some families are dreading another year of struggles and long nights of doing homework. These are the students that we can help to make school easier and homework a lot less stressful.
Since school has started for our students at Pathfinders, a few of my students have had long hours of homework because most of their energy and effort are used on one assignment. One tip that I have found useful is to have the student organize their assignments from the hardest to the easiest. This technique has worked well to complete all of their homework. I have really enjoyed seeing the excitement on their faces once they have completed a difficult page and have that feeling of I DID IT!
As the school year begins again, we look forward to helping our students and their parents find solutions to the struggles they have had with school work to help them continue throughout the year with a new found feeling of confidence and success.
